Aircraft Judging

A total of 17 different awards will be presented to aircraft with 2 or more wings and the pilots that fly them at the 2010 National Biplane Fly In.  All registered biplanes on the field Friday afternoon or Saturday morning will be eligible and included.  Awards will be presented during dinner and entertainment in the Armory on Saturday evening.  If you are not at the dinner we will send you your award.  We will however find someone at dinner who knows you and can share a story about your flying prowess.  Be sure to be at the dinner.

For award purposes antique includes 1939 and earlier, classic includes 1940 to 1955, conpemporary includes 1956 to 1970 and modern is 1971 and newer.

Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • Antique Open Cockpit
  • Antique Cabin

Grand Champion Awards will be presented to the following

  • Classic Open Cockpit
  • Classic Cabin
  • Contemporary
  • Modern
  • Homebuilt / Experimental
  • Military / Warbird
  • Peoples Choice

In addition our team of 3 Judges will individually award a Judges Choice trophy.

At the dinner Saturday night the following awards will be presented to pilots in attandence who qualify:

  • Iron Butt - furthest distance flown to 3JC
  • Grand Champion Antique Pilot - nuff said.
