Flying in to the National Biplane Fly In
 

Freeman Field (3JC) is an uncontrolled field operating a unicom frequency of 122.8.  All traffic patterns are left hand.  Please, no straight in approaches during the National Biplane Fly In.

Marshall Army Air Field (FRI) is located 4nm E of Freeman Field. Marshall Tower operates weekdays on 126.2 and ASOS is available on 121.025.  If you are coming from the East call Marshall Tower on 126.2 and request transition permission. If no one answers just use 126.2 as the CTAF and announce your intentions.

 Manhattan tower (MHK) is located 10nm NE of Freeman Field.  Manhattan Tower operates on 118.55 and ASOS is available on 119.075

Don't be nervous about contacting Marshall Tower or Manhattan Tower.  The staff's at these facilities are great friends of the Biplane Fly In and are anxious to help you in any way.

Be aware of the restricted areas, R3602A & R3602B, located north of Freeman Field.  For status of restricted areas contact Kansas
City Center on 127.35 or Manhattan Tower on 118.55.
 
 It is recommended you listen to Fort Riley ATIS, 121.025, or Manhattan ASOS, 119.075, for winds and altimeter setting.
 

Tune to 122.8 as soon as possible and announce your intentions. Keep your head up, your eyes out and welcome to the National Biplane Fly In.

 For the safety of attendees Freeman Field will close Friday evening at 9:20 pm, end of civil twilight, and reopen Saturday morning at 5:30 am, beginning of civil twilight.  These few hours of darkness will be the only time Freeman Field is closed to aircraft operations during the Fly In.
